A woman with an old San Francisco house, very specific taste, and no interest in pretending the learning has already happened.
I’m Melissa.
I am not a contractor, an architect, or the person you should call about your wiring. I do, however, have strong opinions about the things we live with.
The curve of a handrail. The way a door closes. The blue that is almost right, which is somehow worse than the blue that is obviously wrong.
Beautifully Unqualified is where I work through the gap between knowing what I want and learning what it takes. Some of it I will do myself. Some of it I will hand to someone who actually knows, and I will tell you which is which.
The house is the main story, not the limit. Other making, garden, preservation, and personal projects can join it when they have something worth saying.
There will be opinions. There will be revised opinions. Eventually, there will be something beautiful.
